SAU 16 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Thank you for viewing the SAU 16 Curriculum and Instruction page.

SAU 16 educators work together to create learning progressions by content area. A learning progression is a road or pathway that our students travel as they progress toward demonstration of the skills needed for career and college readiness. All of the progressions are supporting the overall SAU 16 Graduation Competencies. The competency maps are located on the left and are updated through our SAU 16 competency review cycles to ensure alignment and relevancy.

These competency statements support the overarching SAU 16 Vision for our Graduates: Each graduate demonstrates engaged learning and global citizenship. Our graduates understand the identity of self and others to foster the ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively with perseverance, curiosity, and resilience, and communicate solutions with confidence and empathy. Graduates are reciprocal members of the community which cultivates equity, safety, and belonging for all
A vital aspect of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in SAU 16 is the collaboration among our educators. These teams are organized and purposeful, with a clear focus on enhancing student learning outcomes. Each school within our SAU tailors its collaborative teams to reflect the unique staffing at each grade level or department. Some key areas these teams address include student-driven assessments, the development meaningful assessment feedback for students, and professional learning focused on content and instructional design.
