Article XII Section C
C. Procedure for Performance Based Increment
Each staff member will select five areas ftom the components (i.e.
Communication, Management and Organization, Professional
Responsibilities and Classroom Environment) as focal areas for
evaluation. In this way, the staff member will be responsible for
demonstrating growth in each of these areas. A staff member may feel
free to choose areas of competence but should not fear choosing an area
that needs improvement because s/he fears a poor evaluation. Growth in
such an area would indicate improvement and merit increment. Indeed, the
basis of this approach is improvement of pedagogical skills and
learning. Staff members will be encouraged to take a risk, knowing that
support will be there if and when it is needed.
