Kensington School District Public Budget Hearing
January 9, 2008
The Public hearing on the 2008-2009 School District Budget was held on January 9, 2008. In attendance were: Mrs. Dana Donovan, Chairperson; Mrs. Alice Mower, Mrs. Cheryl Camacho, School Board Members; Mr. Paul Flynn, Associate Superintendent of Schools; Mrs. Barbara Switzer, Administrator.
Mrs. Donovan opened the Public Hearing on the 2008-2009 School District Budget at 6:05 PM.
The warrant article regarding the School District was read aloud by Chairperson, Mrs. Dana Donovan, and reviewed by the board. Mr. Flynn reported an increase of 4.8% over the current budget. Mr. Flynn recapped the overall budget and addressed any increases which were largely contractual. He reported that the increases were primarily due to the rising cost of utilities and insurance. In addition, he explained that an adjustment to the reading specialist’s salary from part time to full time was required. Currently, 40% of the reading specialist’s salary is covered by a grant. It cannot yet be determined whether those grant funds will be available again next year, so the school must be prepared to cover the expense.
The hearing was closed at 6:12pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Lalime
School Board Secretary
