Kensington School Board Minutes
June 14, 2006
The Kensington School Board met on Wednesday, June 14, 2006. In attendance were: Mrs. Alice Mower, Chairperson, Mrs. Dana Donovan, Mrs. Cheryl Camacho, School Board members; Mr. Paul Flynn, Associate Superintendent of Schools; Mrs. Barbara Switzer, Principal.
Mrs. Mower called the meeting to order at 3:35 PM.
The minutes of the May 10 and May 24, 2006 School Board Meetings were unanimously approved by the board.
Mrs. Switzer gave her report as follows:
· The KES Times was given to the board as well as the June Calendar.
· Mrs. Switzer noted that Summer Reading resources were sent home to parents.
· Mrs. Switzer reviewed in detail the three 2005-2006 School Goals for KES. Mrs. Switzer described how the staff addressed and implemented the goals of Literacy, Technology and Data Research.
· On Monday, June 19th Mrs. Switzer will meet with staff to discuss and determine the 2006-2007 KES Goals.
· Mrs. Switzer gave the board the criteria for the Presidential Award.
· The final draft for Sargent Camp attendance was given to the board (see attached).
· The results of the Report Card survey have not been completed. When it is completed the summary will be mailed out.
· Mrs. Switzer reported that she will be interviewing for a Grade 3 –one year position in the very near future as well as a library assistant and 2 Special Education Teaching Assistants. Also, Mrs. Switzer told the board that Tom Hickey will not be returning to KES in the fall.
Mrs. Donovan asked if Mrs. Smith was going to be considered for the position. After a lengthy discussion it was determined that the position should be filled by someone with 3-5 years teaching experience and receive a salary in line with what is in the budget for next year.
Mr. Flynn gave his report as follows:
· Mr. Flynn reported that there will be no chairs meeting in June.
· Mrs. Donovan moved to accept the Video Camera on SAU buses Policy. Mrs. Camacho seconded the motion.
The meeting adjourned at 4:41 PM.
