Awards and Recognition

Angela Lennox, science teacher at Exeter High School, was named recipient of the "Eustis Award" at the annual SAU 16 Opening Assembly.

Fran Addorisio of Lincoln Street School was recently inducted into the NHIAA Hall of Fame for her contributions serving the development of the sport of volleyball in the state of NH.

The NH Excellence in Education Awards recognize three SAU 16 teachers for their exceptional service in 2007. The awards ceremony was held Saturday June 9th and the EHS Jazz band performed at the initial reception. View more info.

Roy Morrisette was named as 2007 "Champion for Children". Roy was nominated by the SAU 16 Superintendent's office and was selected by the Southeastern Region Superintendents' group.

Dick Keays, Exeter's Lincoln Street School Principal
Assoc. Superintendent Paul Flynn and Principal Dick Keays at Awards Ceremony

Principal Dick Keays was honored by NHMEA (NH Music Educators’ Association) in April 2007 as the Administrator of the Year. Mr. Keays was nominated by Sue Noseworthy, music teacher at Lincoln Street. Mrs. Noseworthy and Mr. Keays have worked together for many years and their team approach to incorporating music into the lives of the Lincoln Street School has made this truly a model school.

Among the achievements that Mr. Keays has encouraged and initiated include:

  • Instrumental lessons being held during the school day.
  • Fifth grade band and choral rehearsals built into the school day schedule.
  • Support of the fourth grade Portland Symphony trip in the fall of each year.
  • The addition of a string program to instrumental music.
  • Hosting the after-school district elementary band program for elementary students in other schools.
  • Supporting all students during Music in our Schools month of March and attending all evening performances.
  • Attending Distribution Evening (when musical instruments are given out to students in the fall).

Karen Whitmore, CMS 7th Grade English and Language Arts Teacher
Karen was nominated and selected in March 2007 as NH English/Language Arts Teacher of the Year by the NH Teachers of English. Karen was selected from the largest pool of nominees in the history of the award. She was presented with a $250 check which she donated to the CMS library to help purchase books for our students.

Karen is a 33 year veteran teacher, having taught most of her career here in SAU 16 schools. Her skills, effectiveness, and professionalism are reflective of our entire ELA department. We are fortunate to have so many teachers who share her commitment to quality education.

Random Acts of Kindness Awards

Exeter High School's School Resource Officer Daniel D'Amato was named Officer of the Year for the Exeter Police Department. D'Amato has been with the Exeter Police Department for 12 years. His influence and participation in safety and emergency planning have been appreciated by staff and the community and his interactions with students have enhanced the high school environment.
