The SAU school districts are committed to working together to achieve common standards and values that will result in graduates who are caring, productive, and contributing members of society.
Results of the 2004 NHEIAP Assessment test have been released and
confirm a steady trend of overall improvement in English/Language Arts
and Mathematics at both CMS and EHS. (Use links on right to access the
NH State website for more information and results.) Both schools however are identified
as "Schools in Need of Improvement" as a result of the "educationally
disabled" populations of sixth and tenth graders not meeting the
performance target in mathematics. It is
important to note that students in both grades 6 and 10 in all other
decision areas (percent of participation, performance targets, ethnic
groups, ESL population, Socio/Economically disadvantaged) made AYP
(adequate yearly progress).
In both English/Language Arts and Mathematics, the score comparisons
at CMS and EHS show significant increases. For example:
In 2003, 33% of the 6th graders scored in the Advanced/Proficient
categories in English Language Arts, in 2004, 51% scored in those
categories. In that same time period, the % of students scoring in the
novice category was reduced by 6%.
In mathematics, 81% of the 6th graders scored "basic or above" in
2004, compared to 79% in 2003.
At EHS, in English Language Arts, 43% of the 10th graders scored
in the advanced/proficient categories in 2003, and that percent
increased to 52% in 2004. Students scoring in the novice category were
reduced by 9% in 2004.
In math, 41% of the 10th graders at EHS scored in the
advanced/proficient category in 2004 compared to 33% in the rest of
the state.
The "School Improvement Plans" that each school will now be required
by law to file will include how we plan to address the area that
resulted in the "Schools in Need of Improvement" designation.
