The last day of school for all SAU 16 schools is Wednesday
June 16. Senior's last day is Friday June 11, along with graduation.

The CMS Chamber Choir was awarded two trophies for Best in
their Division and Best Overall Choral Performance grades 6-12 at the Music In
The Parks festival in Agawam, Ma. on May 8, 2004.

All schools are doing assessment testing in May. Please be sure
students are aware of the importance of doing their best on testing and be
sure they are rested and have breakfast.
CMS NWEA Testing: Grade 7: May 17, 18, 19 (Mon., Tues., Wed.) Grade 6: May 20, 21, 26 (Thurs., Fri., Wed.) EHS has posted the schedules for the end of the year under
Calendars.
The student-managed restaurant at SST will be open on the
following Thursdays: April 8, 15, and 22, and May 6 and 13. Highlights include
an Easter Buffet this Thursday and a Mothers Day Special on May 6.

Plans are in place to begin training April 10th and go
live on April 12th with the new computerized lunch accounting system.

(pdf). For the fourth year in a row now, CMS brings back the NH
state title. Two CMS students finished in the top four and, thus, will
now represent the state at the national competition in Washington D.C. in May.
Additionally, CMS students claimed five of the top twelve spots. No other
school placed more than one in the top twelve. As the coach of the
winning team, CMS math teacher Joshua Frost, will (again) coach the NH team in
the Nationals.

EHS hosts an informational program from 7 to 9 pm on
Wednesday March 3rd in the Talbot Gym for parents of eigth-grade
students and parents of students who have never attended EHS. The
program will feature an overview of the EHS course-scheduling process.
All parents are welcome.
The student-run restaurant at SST invites you to enjoy a
lunch either Wednesday or Thursday 12:15-1:30 pm of each week. A sample

The New
Hampshire Partners in Education has again awarded the Blue Ribbon Award to
several of our schools: East Kingston Elementary, Kensington Elementary,
Lincoln Street, Main Street, Newfields, Stratham Memorial and Swasey Central Schools.
The Blue Ribbon Awards recognize the extraordinary efforts of school volunteer
coordinators and their volunteer teams for the achievements realized during
the previous school year. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in
Concord in March.
The High School Guidance Counselors now staff their Career
Center every period during the day and they encourage students, staff,
administration, graduates and community members to drop by any time and see
what they have to offer. View their new

all afternoon and evening activities. Early dismissal will occur at the
following times: CMS 11:55; EHS 12:10; Exeter Elem. 12:45; East Kingston 1:00;

SAU 16 technology staff has provided a resource for
students, parents, teachers and community members to find out the importance
of learning to use a computer keyboard properly and proficiently in the
Resources section.

Basketball: Boys vs Merrimack at Exeter postponed. Rescheduled JV 1:00 / Varsity 2:30. Girls vs Merrimack at Merrimack postponed. Rescheduled JV 1:00 / Varsity 2:30 All SAU 16 schools will have a two hour delay on Friday
morning because of the anticipated low temperature and wind-chill factor.
The Art Department at CMS has set up a program for you to
send an electronic greeting card using artwork from some of our middle school
students. Program is available from the
CMS website.
The high school guidance department assists students
through February and March in determining what courses are best for next year.

Stratham Memorial School Principal Tom Fosher was honored
as one of four finalists for the Outstanding Principal of the Year award on
Tuesday, January 6th at the Concord Marriott Conference Center. The following

The Food Service Department is in the process of
implementing a computerized cafeteria system at CMS. Every student and staff
member will be asked to use a "debit" card when making purchases in the
cafeteria. The new system will go online during the week of January 12, 2004.

exam schedule for

Because of the impending snow storm, SAU 16 plans to close all buildings
at noon on Saturday. SAT testing should be held but check
WMUR
closings first. Afternoon
sports and activities are cancelled. All-day activities will end
at 12:00. The Exeter Holiday Parade has been postponed until
Saturday December 13th.
The EHS Music Sponsors is holding a Craft Fair on Saturday December 6
from 10am to 4pm at the Exeter Town Hall. There will be lots of crafts, gifts, baked
goods, hot food, cold and hot drinks and entertainment. For more

LIGHT A LIGHT - Exeter Hospital is donating proceeds from the Light a Light for Life holiday season fundraiser to the senior class of 2004 for Project Prom/Graduation. Tree lighting is December 11. To donate in the name of ANY student ... CMS Music Boosters is holding a fundraiser at Burger King in Stratham
this Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. The Boosters
receive a portion of each register receipt placed in the special CMS box
- make sure you tell the clerk that it's for CMS Music. So, eat in or
drive thru and help our music programs.
SMS PTO is sponsoring a Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday November 15, 2003, from 9:00am to 2:00pm at SMS. This year there will be 42 vendors. Some of the crafts will be jewelry, hand painted glassware and ornaments, hand made sweaters and numerous hand crafted Christmas items plus many other crafts. There will also be a children's corner where children can decorate cookies, make holiday bookmarks, and have their faces painted. There will be a baked goods table, a raffle, and you will be able to enjoy breakfast and lunch items at a cafe. CMS Library receives a donation from Barnes & Noble in Newington from a percentage of sales made to CMS supporters. Funds raised will be used to offset Ralph Fletcher’s April visit for National Poetry Month. Blue hawk football (8 wins, 0 losses) , boys soccer (14 wins to 1 loss),
girls soccer (13 wins to 1 loss), and field hockey (9 wins to 5 losses)
all are winning teams this season. Check
NHIAA site for updated scores and schedules and continue to support
our students and their coaches - almost one-third of our high school
student population participate in after-school inter-scholastic sports.
EHS held a pep rally
(pictures) Friday Nov. 7 to encourage the boys' soccer team
championship game Sunday in Nashua.
Tuesday November 11 is Veteran's Day and a holiday for all SAU 16
schools. Monday November 10 is a Teacher In-service day for K-5 so
all elementary schools have no school. CMS and EHS have a regular
day on Monday. The scheduling differences occur because we start
sixth and ninth graders separately on the first day of school.
The Exeter Region Cooperative School Board will be sponsoring a
Visioning Summit for the Cooperative Middle School on February 4, 2004
from 3:00 to 8:00 PM to be held at the Cooperative Middle School.
Babysitting will be available. Participating in this summit will be
approximately 100 members from the SAU communities composed of parents,
board members, school administration and staff and community members.
The focus of the summit is to provide community input to the ERCSD Board
on the academic and philosophical vision for the future of the
Cooperative Middle School. It is hoped that we will have all
participants identified by January 2, 2004. Interested individuals
should contact Sally Boyd, Administrative Assistant to the
Superintendent at SAU 16 either by phone 775-8653 or by e-mail at
sboyd@sau16.org.
EHS Math teachers Michelle Morton and Kathleen Parent are hosting guest
speakers from our community to help students understand how they will
actually use many math skills in the future.

The Linden Street Re-use Committee of the Exeter Region Cooperative
School District will be hosting two public forums for the citizens of
the six towns in SAU 16. The purpose of these forums is to give members
of the public an opportunity to offer suggestions, concerns and ideas to
the Re-use Committee regarding the ultimate use of the current Exeter
High School site once the new high school is completed. The forums will
be held at the High School Annex Gym on Linden Street on Thursday,
November 6 from 7:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday, November 8 from
9:00am-11:00am.
The committee has completed its first phase of research and has
presented its preliminary findings to the Coop. Board. For all information on

The observations and recommendations of the NEASC committee are being
reviewed and discussed by the staff and school board and is available
here for your reading.
SAU 16 has decided to use the EveryDay Math Curriculum for all
elementary schools. Check out our

Project Prom and Project Graduation are aimed at providing a safe
environment on senior prom night and for graduates after graduation.
Senior prom is Friday June 4th, 2004 and graduation is Friday June 11th,
2004 and organization and fundraising for these events is beginning now.

Fourteen Automotive Service Technology students at the Seacoast School
of Technology in Exeter were honored recently for their summer
internships at a number of local dealerships. A reception was held to
honor the students and a highlight of the evening was the presentation
of $5000 from the Exeter New Car Dealers Association to the SST
Automotive Service Technology Program.

A document will go home with all students this week that contains a
description of several SAU 16 policies and procedures. A tear-off
signature page for parents acknowledges receipt of this information and

Over 480 students from Epping, Exeter, Newmarket, Raymond, Sanborn Regional,
and Winnacunnet high schools will take part in a two-day orientation program
designed to highlight the programs and activities planned for the coming

School starts Wednesday August 27th for K-5 and grades 6 and 9 and
Thursday August 28th for grades 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Friday August
29th and Monday August 30th are Labor Day Holidays - no school.

are now posted.
The 2003 Summer Musical will be performed Thursday August 14th
at 7 pm, Friday August 15th at 7 pm, Saturday August 16th
at 7 pm and Sunday August 17th at 2pm. The performances
are held in the Thomas G. Meehan Center for the Performing Arts
Auditorium at CMS. Adults $5, Children & Seniors $4 - all proceeds
to benefit the CMS Drama Program.
40 teachers from throughout SAU 16 have received two weeks of technology
training through the new Seacoast
Professional Development Center. Teachers learned how, when,
and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into their
teaching. Topics included hands-on use of the Internet, Web page
design, multimedia presentations, student publications, and development
of a online course to either use with their class or to share expertise
with other teachers.
The new foyer of Swasey Central created a huge palette for local artist,
Christine Waniak-Howell. A parent of a Swasey student, Ms. Waniak-Howell
is donating her time and creating the mural as her time permits.

HealthyCommunities, Project CREATE, and the New Outlook Teen Center have
put together information for parents of incoming students about CMS,
summer activities, community resources, website resources, and
