CMS Music Lab
Cooperative Middle School music
teacher Eric Kobb submitted a request to the Robinson Grant for $55,000 to equip
each student in a general music class with a computer, a piano keyboard, a
headset and microphone and special music software. The awarded amount for
next year will buy 15 sets and they hope to purchase the remaining 10 the
following year, if additional funds are again awarded. The Exeter Jr. Women's
Club donated an additional amount of funding.
The computers will be loaded with special music software that enables composition and sequencing and allows them to work with up to 16 tracks. The music department hopes to be able to record all their concerts and make CD's for the families and students to purchase after their performances.
Additional donations are welcome and can be forwarded to Eric Kobb at CMS, 100 Academic Way, Stratham, NH 03885. He can also be reached by e-mail at ekobb@sau16.k12.nh.us. They hope to be able to upgrade their recording and editing equipment to digital technology to advance the capabilities of what they can do with the students.
They plan to have the new lab up and running by the end of the summer, ready for the next school year.
