The SAU school districts are committed to working together to achieve common standards and values that will result in graduates who are caring, productive, and contributing members of society.
1. The educators in SAU 16 will engage in professional development
activities that a) Advance their understanding and application of 21st
Century Literacy Skills by June 2009; b) Increase and enhance their
knowledge of student learning, learners and subject matter by June 2009;
and c) Enable them to gather, analyze and utilize data for the purpose
of informing instruction by June 2009.
2. The educators in SAU 16 will advance the integration of
Information, Communication and Technology Literacy Standards and digital
portfolios in all areas of the curriculum by February 2009.
3. To enhance fiscal responsibility, the SAU Central Office will
increase the opportunity for participation of the entire SAU Joint Board
in the annual development of the SAU Budget.
4. SAU 16 will work to minimize student risk behaviors at the
elementary, middle and high school levels.
5. To reduce our use of natural resources (water, energy, paper,
etc.), the Central Office, School District Boards and Administrators
will: a) Document baselines for consumption; b) Research, develop and,
to the extent possible, implement energy and resource conservation,
reduction and recycling; and c) Share results in September 2009 with the
SAU Joint Board.
6. Each local board will work with their respective building
administrators to identify specific building programs that will be
surveyed to assess their effectiveness.
